This revamped program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience to enter the growing field of health information upon graduation while aligning with the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) latest standards. 

Students who complete this program will be able to: 

• Describe how to use medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, pathology, and pharmacology terms in the field.
• Show problem-solving skills while navigating the U.S. healthcare system, including how health data is managed and stored, clinical classification systems, reimbursement, health stats, research, quality management, privacy and ethics, health IT systems, data security, and financial/resource management.
• Understand how to collect, maintain, and share healthcare records following best practices and while working with other healthcare professionals.
• Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using systems like ICD, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Use data tools to interpret and present healthcare info for better decisions and strategy.

The following items are included in tuition for all Bryan U health information students at no cost:

• Preparation for AHIMA Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification exams — including an exam attempt for each! 
• All your books, courseware, and software, including industry software like EHRgo, AHIMA Virtual Lab, and the Solventum Coding and Reimbursement System.
