This month we’re spotlighting Montasha Holman, a graduate of Bryan University’s online Pharmacy Technician Certificate program. She reflects on her favorite aspects of the program, how it inspired her to continue her education, and how her experience with Bryan University was different from other schools.
Montasha found BU through an ad and said she knew her experience would be different from other schools from the first time she talked to someone.
“Everything was amazing. I’ve had hiccups other times with trying to sign up for school from start to finish. But with Bryan University everything was smooth,” she said. “I was able to understand everything. I was able to get all the information I needed, and I feel like every time I called or missed somebody, I was getting a response back ASAP. I was happy with everything with the school from start to finish, and still am.”
Growing up she thought she wanted to be a nurse but she realized it wasn’t the path for her. She pursued other paths of education but never found one she was able to complete — until Bryan University. Now she’s pursuing a second program with BU, Clinical Medical Assisting.
“I was excited that I was able to finish it,” she said. Completing her program made her realize she can accomplish something difficult even as a busy mom of six.
She said the hardest part of completing the program was remembering everything. She loved that she could go back and reread something or redo her assignments until she mastered them.
“Like, hold on! Wait a minute. I have my eBook, I can go back and sign back in there and then reread it again, or restudy and go from there,” she said.
The flexibility of learning at-home and having instructors who supported her success were her favorite parts of the program.
“The teachers were great. If I needed extra help or extra time, or tutoring, I was able to get it. They were always there to answer my questions and help,” she said. “I also love that we had tutoring, too. We’re not face to face, but I had somebody virtually helping me out with whatever I needed help with.”
To anyone considering a program at Bryan University, her advice is to give it a try.
“Just go for it because they give you everything that you need, all the information, and it’s very, very easy to get signed up and from start to finish,” she said. “Don’t wait, just do it.”
